Community Tasting Notes 12

April 1, 2016 - A very interesting and fun concept wine, based around the random genetic mutation of Rondinella (a red grape) to Rondinella Bianca. I gather, randomly Rondinella vines will sometimes produce grapes primarily white. This wine is based upon those grapes. Unfortunately (though unsurprisingly since no one else does it), I can see why others don't make wine like this. This is an entirely generic white wine that could be made from anything. There is absolutely no sense of unique varietal, no sense of place, or anything interesting about this wine. It smelled like generic, slightly oxidized apple core and some funky minerals. Very generic. The palate tastes nearly identically, with some bitter apple seeds poking there way in there with the bitter minerality. The palate texture is odd and chunky, not pleasing at all. Moderate acidity and tartness. Similar notes on the finish, but more bitter... really linear throughout, but no where is it enjoyable. Those minerals and bitter apple seed permeate the wine and make it a bit difficult to swallow. This tastes like so many other generic white wines. What a bummer.

August 7, 2013 - Nothing on the nose. On the palate, crisp and tart with decent acidity.

June 29, 2013 - good but not great. reminiscent of a pinot blanc, with a nice almond note. but too juicy for my taste, without enough drive or verve. a bit gimmicky in fact.
