    February 7, 2020 - 14.1% abv. 1438 cases. Recent auction purchase.
Rich, ripe, opulent Pinot Noir. Very California in style, with rich texture, full body, and ripe, candied flavor profile. Very pleasing and "delicious". In pretty good balance, though could've used a touch more acidity. A nice little bitter note on the finish. Not a detailed or nuanced Pinot, but this fits the bill if you are looking for a Cali Pinot experience. Not my favorite style, but it has a place on my table for the right price point. Tasted over two evenings - consistent throughout. No need to hurry on this - it was more primary than aged and should hold for a long time to come. I'd actually like to taste this when it sheds some of its fruit.

June 25, 2019 - The Fort Ross Winery makes this wine from the single vineyard named Fort Ross that was one of the large and early pioneered plantings of Pinot Noir in Sonoma Coast, close to the Pacific ocean and significantly cooled by it. At the unusually good price of $31 a bottle, I bought a full case. Right off the bat the wine poured into the glass deeply colored along with concentrated aromas of black cherry and violets. The sip features upfront fruit with an added blackberry, very lively acidity, textural richness, and rounded tannin from being well aged for 10 years. Ends mouth coating with a spike of intense flavors in the swallow. Will drink superbly any time for at least the next 5 years.

April 14, 2015 - An excellent Pinot. Got better over a day or two. Just incredibly delicious. Can't say enough good things about it. I recommend it highly.
