September 16, 2018 - Great example of a classic Brunello from a great vintage that has aged gracefully.

After slow-oxing for 5 hours the wine was already in excellent shape although it clearly kept evolving over the next few hours.

The color is red brick with only the slightest hint of amber at the rim. Enticing aromas of sour cherry, leather and indian spices evolve with hints of hay, wet earth and some cedar. Every switl brings a ne impression. And most notably after a bit more time the fresh fruit became more prominent as if we were drinking a 5 year old wine!
On the palate the wine has great balance between the fresh acidity and sweetness of fruit. The tannins are silky smooth and integrated.
This is followed by a great finish that follows through with the same balance and longers for minutes.

I was surprised by the lively fresh fruit notes this wine still offered. It probably will still hold strong for many years to come. Still I would suggest you to drink it now (if you still have some :)

My last bottle of Costanti of this vintage... but what a great bottle it was!

August 27, 2017 - Enjoyable and showing well, with plenty of life left. However this was not particular memorable.

September 6, 2014 - This bottle was outstanding right from the start. Classic brunello.

March 8, 2014 - Did not stand out on this night.

November 11, 2013 - Earthy, forest floor and damp earth notes. Leather and lingering acidity make it a very good food wine with just a streak of dark cherry beam. Great wine mushroom dishes.
