Nose out of the gate is old school, sweaty leather, tobacco, some olive brine too. Tannin is noticeable but not overwhelming, and crisp acidity which I like. Palate opens with red cherries, stewed strawberries, chewy liquorice and some menthol notes, very savoury. I would hold this 2-3 more years but this is a food wine for life I feel.
May 30, 2015 - We sipped at Angelini's at the Kowloon Shangri-Law, Hong Kong. We are big fans of La Spinetta. When we visited, we learned of the importance of the name Pin, which was the nickname for their father. A most pleasant Barbera and Nebbiolo blend at super value price. Our friends, who had never tried, were impressed.
December 23, 2014 - Day 1: I really don't like this wine. No nose, no sweetness but a lot of acidity :-(
Day 2: Tasted the rest of the bottle opened yesterday and found a completly different wine. Nose now with dark berries, tobacco and english liqourice. The tast with some sweetness. Still some acidity but now more balanced.
All in all the wine is way to young now - will wait another 5 years before I will open the next bottle
February 11, 2014 - Light garnet color.
Scent of dark cherries, tobacco and violets. Parfumed.
Full, very nice tannins. Taste of dark berries, almond and tobacco. Long and very clear aftertaste of violets with a grassy note - like fine olive oil.
A very pleaseant wine that is good for drinking now but will certainly last a couple of years.
December 30, 2013 - Wine Koop in Umeå flexing early muscles (Hemmavid (Umeå, North of Sweden)): Today: acids overtake whatever pleasures may be here. Quite discomforting and underwhelming, at least for our expectations.
Will not be buying any more btls of this thin and just barely "good" wine.
One btl to go, hoping for the best in circa 2023...

On day two, it had beefed up a little bit, but acids are still sharp and way too exaggerated for our plates. Dikeskörning...
July 13, 2013 - Crown Liquors Tasting (Coral Gables, FL): Nose of dark fruits, earth, chocolate? Well balanced and integrated tannins, but still young. Can use another two years in cellar. Flavors of dark fruits, earth, spices.
March 17, 2013 - I think I am being conservative with a 93 compared to some of the stuff that attracts similar #'s from the "big published taster names". This is an enormously well balanced and refined wine. A wee bit dear but worth the $ vs other high priced "prizes". This is one of those wines which will evolve hour after hour and has progressed markedly over just the last couple of years of aging.
January 18, 2013 - Aerated in decanter 45 minutes, wine list/restaurant purchase. Certainly something I would drink again or consider purchasing at $45, but not at the restaurant's $122. Really well put together, seamless, with such a delicate lift giving the fruit and tannin just the right amount of tension. Drink this during the next 5 years. At the 2 hour mark, it showed quite nicely. Understated, not flashy at all, thankfully.
