August 11, 2015 - Delicious, five years on. Acidity still lively. Creamy texture on the mid palate -- not thick, but slightly creamy and round, with some oily qualities. Cheesy notes on the nose now that I don't remember from before; spices; cidery notes. On the palate there's a peppery tingle that doesn't resolve as pepper, either black or white. Citrus. An oxidative note that is entirely pleasing. Baked white peaches. Savory green herbs. Some briny business.
Fromageophile's wet dream. I'm not one, or at least not a sophisticated one, so I can't get hyper-specific with my fantasies here, but there are some amazing cheese pairings waiting to happen with this one.
(N.b.: not having gobs of experience with altesse in any form, much less its high-end incarnation, I had no idea how long this would last. Five years on this is in fantastic shape, and has at least 1-2 more years on it, easy.)
October 8, 2014 - Not feeling this at all. Ripe fruit cocktail flavors with some exotic nuance, nicely dry but really soft on the midpalate and lacking freshness. OK with Chinese food but not much fun on its own.
May 26, 2013 - Mountain wine, apple/floral/citrus mix, good bright acidity, waxy chalky minerals. Nice wine, representative of it's origens.
April 15, 2013 - Blind Tasting Unusual French and Italian Whites (Rich & Peggy's House, Los Altos, CA): Appley nose, just a whiff of cider. Light to medium bodied with medium to high acid. Crisp, lemony palate with a long citrus fruit finish. A hint of oxidation on the nose but none in the mouth. (my 1st, group's 2nd)
October 14, 2012 - Waxy texture, apple cider, big floral nose. Nothing special here- it's just missing depth, or any sense of something different/ exciting.
October 11, 2012 - More "vinous" than the 2009, with a nicely textured composite of herbs, minerals, and honey.
