October 21, 2019 - Fruity, dark color, decent aromas and mouthfeel. My bottle had strange fresh ground coffe flavor which I wasn’t expecting, but was pleasant nonetheless. Short finish, drink up with typ red meat fare.

September 8, 2019 - 55% Cab, 45% Syrah Stoneridge Vineyard. Lift, some herb, maturing. Lots of dry taut hot brick aromas. Sweet dark fruit on the palate, suave, no tannin left. Some light kernel aromas. Maturing dark berry fruit.

August 30, 2019 - Pleasant right after opening, but quickly fell apart. Disappointing. I am starting to think that the ideal drinking window of a lot of the K Vintners syrah bottlings is in that 5 - 8 year window following vintage.

January 2, 2017 - Drinking well but seems unlikely to continue to evolve. Followed over New Year's Eve, the cab and Syrah seemed to take turns coming to the forefront. Cab provided polished tannin and structure; Syrah giving smokiness and dark fruit. A thoughtfully made cuvée.

December 9, 2016 - And yet another Boyz Holidaze dinner at Seattle Purple is in the books; the 2 Toms the 2 Jons and myself. We kicked things off with TomG's 2013 Leonetti Sangiovese [92] - my first crack at this wine. While it certainly was a regal Sang, the price point here is just too far into outer space. Perhaps age would do it some justice, or a fine Italian pairing... unfortunately, we were looking to get drunk on fabulous wines already by the appetizers! We hurried along to my first bottle, the 2006 Quilceda Cab [95]. This seemed demure, delicious but perhaps out of place being paired pre-entree. Compared to the 08 version, which I feel is the best QC ever, it didn't quite stand up. Next up was the 2011 Bionic Frog [96] out of TomR's "cellar" (read: crawlspace). OK now folks, this is what we gather for. Kickin ass and taking names like nothing else but christophe's flagship can do. This came at the right time, as we scarfed our rare filets with one hand & chugged with the other. Finally, it was down to opening one last bottle: either my King Coal or TomR's Leonetti Reserve. I directed Tom to hang onto that puppy for a future endeavour; let's open the more-fun Charles bottle. So the 08 King Coal [97] became our crescendo and denouement all in one fell pull of the cork. This ratcheted it up that one final notch we were hoping for, sailing slightly over the frog's head like a bevy of butterflies set free. Yes my people - Charles' high end, ink purple offerings do not hide their hedonistic headiness by any stretch of the imagination. We nailed this in its sweet spot: pun intended. Na zdrowie!
