November 27, 2012 - La Confrerie des Chevaliers du Tastevin (Vancouver) (Pied-á-Terre): Darkest and ripest nose so far with beautiful notes of manure (yes, I said beautiful), dark cherries and raspberries and little bit of barnyard funk as well. In the mouth there’s plenty of depth and structure with sappy red fruits, excellent acidity and fine yet approachable tannins. Well balanced. I really liked this. Drinking well right now and will cruise for several years further. Excellent.

November 27, 2012 - Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin (Pied-â-Terre Bistro - Vancouver, BC): Super stinky on the nose with a blast of manure/outhouse up front, along with some red cherries, barn, kirsch, tar, and rich dark fruits. While still quite funky, the stank dissipates on the palate displaying some black pepper spice, red cherries, and some herbal notes. A nice underlying backbone of acidity balances well with the crisp yet rounded tannin. Medium length finish ending on notes of barn and red cherry. I think this is either a love it or hate it wine with what some could consider an overwhelming amount of stank. I'm a fan myself. Very good.

June 23, 2012 - Deep purple. Medium legs. Cherry, juniper, and duck breast nose. Rustic red fruit, black pepper, and musk. Moderate finish. Drinking well now, with dinner.

May 6, 2010 - From the négoce arm of the house, which shouldn't make a huge difference since Méo oversees the process from vine treatment on. Color was a cloudy medium ruby red with no bricking. Some earthiness on the nose along with red fruits and a hint of spice. On the tongue it again shows young: red fruits, tart acidity with a lively play on the palate (Dawn says zip). Good balance and cleansing finish. Drinking well now (bring on the '02s?). No rush to drink up.

July 14, 2008 - Medium ruby with a slight bricking at the edges. Floral, spicy nose with black fruits, sage and loamy earth. Full and rather fruit driven in the mouth with sweet black fruit and oak spice flavors dominating. Nicely balanced by harmonious acids. The oak peaks out again in the finish. This might be just a tad too extracted for its own good. Today this is rich and nicely balanced but I worry that too much further aging will leave this top heavy.

(Méo-Camuzet Frère & Soeurs Fixin) Medium, medium-plus cherry-red. The nose is a little more subdued than the Côte de Nuits Villages but becomes ever more intense and impressive - tight red fruit of some depth. The palate has good acidity, just a little less tart than the 'Villages', rounder and longer too. Much less oak spice but I have to say that today there's a little less personality too - that said the underlying material is better here. There's a black aspect to the fruit here too, but less so than the last wine - a rather polished Fixin but one that didn't ignite the spark of excitement, despite that, I think it's clean, well-made and will improve over the next 5 years.
