December 26, 2019 - As with the 2001 vintage of the 904, this is currently spoiled by the heavy-handed oak treatment. To my palate, the resulting dill notes (and coconut) overwhelm the fruit. Not appealing whatsoever. My track record with LRA hasn’t been very good: I find LRA in general has a lot of dill (the herb, not pickles).

Perhaps in time (years) the oak will integrate, the dill will fade, and this will achieve the lifted profile I love in older Rioja. But I’m not too hopeful.

December 10, 2019 - Pale intense ruby. Lots of mildly cheesy development on the nose with great lift and charm. Soft and easy. Pretty classic and great. Positively surprised with this bottle, it felt a bit weak anyway after the first half bottle. Decanted 1h 30m before drinking

November 16, 2019 - Decanted for an hour and drunk over another or more. Evolved nicely within the last two years, very elegant and focussed with sour cherry and just a hint of tertiary notes, mouth watering high acidity, good concentration and medium to long finish. Has the structure for a very long life but is already highly enjoyable, 93 points now with potential for more.

    November 9, 2019 - Clear medium ruby

    Black cherry, raisins, black plum
    Ripe strawberries
    Juicy ripe cranberries
    Fresh fruit
    Vanilla, spice, dusty?

    Dry
    Med+ tannins
    Med acid
    Med+ alcohol, 13.5%?
    Med finish
    Med body
Fruit still fresh: more black fruit than red

    Very good

November 1, 2019 - With an hour or two in the decanter, I reckon this is just starting to enter its window of enjoyment. Happy days
