    November 27, 2021 - Needs more time. Not an excellent bottle (I hope...). Big, deep black fruit nose, some black olives, hint of vanilla. Palate is okay but it's layered, not a composition, a whole.

    July 3, 2021 - So intense while also elegant and light on its feet. This wine has impact from the get go, with an intense nose of charcoal, smoked meat, olive brine and cool berries. The palate has all that and more. Almost St. Joseph like in its fresh pepperiness, this has cool, rich berry flavor, violets, black olives, and smoked meat going on. I really nice treat to have something so powerful, yet fresh.

    May 21, 2021 - My first Cote Rotie from Rostaing - shocked and amazed by the lightness and etherealness of this wine. Slow oxed 5 hours, decanted 2-3 hours. Surely needed it. Pure white pepper with a hint of something tropical behind it - a very interesting wine but not on par with a Chave or La Chappelle (on this day at least). Won't open another for many years.

    Dark ruby In color
    Spicy nose. A little hot. White pepper.
    Lightish. Nice tannin. Longish finish. Taste follow the nose.
    Very nuanced wine. Sophisticated in its makeup. This is very nice wine. Well balanced. Thanks John.

    February 24, 2021 - Mini horizontal of the three 2010 Cote Rotie stars. All wines tasted double blind. A strong reminder how great Cote Rotie can be. The wines are so incredibly elegant, airy and pure. No weight, yet intense and with very complex aroma profiles. The winner was the Guigal La Mouline (100 pts), one of these rare perfect experiences. The perfect, fine structure paired with an ever changing aroma profile and this rare balance of sweet and sexy with absolute grace and intellectual stimulus. Second place for Jamet (96+ pts) which was almost perfect in its best moments but with a bit more time the fruit retracted a bit and more vegetable aromas took over making it a bit less harmonious. Rostaing Cote Blonde (92 pts) not on par with the others. Jumped back and forth from being fresh and balanced to being a bit green and bitter, but never with the same level of complexity.

    TN: medium- intense nose and palate, - bit closed and muted with the ripe fruit only peaking through from time to time, some minerality, black and greeen olives, black tea. In the best moments 94/95 points with a harmonious and balanced picture but often rather bitter and slightly greenish tannins. In these moments it was not good. Probably in an awkward stage rather than faulty.

    Decanting: Decanted for roughly 2+ hours before the first pour. Improved a bit but not markedly. Probably a longer (day in advance) decant would have helped.
