June 21, 2021 - Dibbs's birthday: Strange bottle shape and even stranger that I've somehow never heard of this producer before. A great example of an aged Brunello, haven't had many that aged so gracefully. A wine with everything amplified - fruit, acidity and structure. Mostly sweet tannins, could imagine this being an oaky mess when young, but age has integrated the wood. More immediate pleasure than the Las Cases but less complexity and depth.

June 20, 2021 - This wine proves that Brunellos can age perfectly. The wine tasted like it was from 2001 vintage rather than 1990. It is a structured wine with elegance gained through age. Drinking beautifully now. If you have that weirdly shaped bottle, drink it up.

April 29, 2015 - HK Wine Society Tasting & Dinner: Mature Brunello, 1975-1998 (Langham Palace Hotel, Mongkok, Hong Kong): Tasted blind in a line-up of 12. Transparent, bright and youthful-looking but with a hint of amber at the meniscus. Nose is very reticent but hints at ripe raspberry and faint oak....young. Palate is youngish but has extended into its drinking window. Nail varnish on entry, good dry brick and fruit then very resonant and reverberant inside the head on the finish. A great wine that I really 'get'. This was the group's #2 and my #6.

June 20, 2008 - Almost opaque black in color. A big massive, muscular wine that has thrown big sediment but remains inpenetrably dark. Tannic and a bit coarse on the palate to the detriment of fruit flavor and balance. This is a winter wine that requires a bold dish to act as a foil. It seems a bit roasted and overextracted. This seems more like aliganico than sangiovese and may have some other varietals included. Maybe it is just this bottling as I am unfamiliar with the vineyard location nor have I tastd in previously.
