June 5, 2019 - Tasted over two days, alongside the 2012 vintage, which provided fascinating points for comparison. This is the leaner, more rustic, and edgier of the two. Whereas the 2012 features fleshy red and purple fruits up front, this wine shows tremendous purity of tart and sweet red berries at the middle and back.

This was the first time tasting this wine that it did not need an entire day to breathe, yet it still showed better on the second day. Pure Barbaresco, showing tangy and tart red fruits and berries, rhubarb, rosehips, orange marmalade, and wafting hints of petrol derivatives. Though restrained, the wine features riveting energy and piercing qualities. Intriguing combination of gripping weightlessness at the mid palate, turning notably tannic at the back.

The wine paired with everything, including charcuterie, cheese, beef, and sausage. Likely to continue its evolution for another seven twelve years, and even then there will be no hurry. Along with its 2012 stablemate, it tops the list of high QPR Barbaresco. 93-94.

May 30, 2019 - I don’t buy or drink much Italian wine, inexplicably because I seem to really like the Barolos and Barbarescos that I do open. Bought these because I was told Produttori didn’t produce any single cru versions in 2010 so all the good juice ended up in the normale. Decided to take an early-ish peek.

Cellared since release, perfect cork and fill. Ruby red to rim. Takes 1-2 hours to open up, then it shows nice cherry, floral, cedar and earth aromas. Medium body, crisp and a bit lean with plenty of acidity but well balanced, tannins under control, medium finish. Drinking well and should continue to do so for another decade. Prompted me to buy some of the 2015. Excellent.

May 11, 2019 - Better on day-2. Decant at least 1 hour if drinking now. At 25 beans, this is a fantastic everyday Barbaresco. Wish I had bought more...

April 6, 2019 - The aromatics on the bottle were incredible from the get-go. I decanted for 90 minutes, rebottled, and the enjoyed another 30min after that. This will be a really wonderful wine but it needs another 3-5 years. It was highly nuanced and elegant, but it is still holding so much back.

April 2, 2019 - With almonds & various cheeses night one, Steak & chip-shop chips night two.
Night one.... Poured one glass & ploughed through it with masochistic determination. Almost no nose and the very definition of 'tannic' in the mouth. Just a wall of dry tannin with something behind it, that no amount of swirling would penetrate. Cork replaced, in the fridge for 12hrs, then removed at midday the next day to come up to temperature.
Night two.... Enter stage left, miraculously transformed wine. Enticing sweet cherry & herb nose on pouring. Palate unrecognizable from yesterday. Full & sweet, cherries & red fruits all over the place but with burgundian lightness of touch as it glides over the taste buds. Tannins are present & correct, but part of the balanced whole. Gorgeous.
