February 20, 2022 - not blind, together with Astralis 1996,
I preferred the HoG, some others vice versa. For me more elegant and structured. No hurry but close to his peak. Spicy, red currant and some secondary and tertiary notes. 97
Astralis a bit more dominant on the fruit side. Less reluctant. Both great wines and in good shape. 96

April 7, 2021 - Lovely Shiraz. More dark fruit, menthol and forest floor thank I would have expected from a Shiraz. Very smooth. Would like to have this again!

March 7, 2021 - Living proof that the older the wine, the gooder the wine! Still had lovely fruit and while tertiery flavor development wasn't strong, the balance was lovely. Certainly on the back 40 of life, and no need to hold any longer. A real pleasure to consume.

September 2, 2018 - A pristine bottle; purchased on release and perfectly cellared since. Youthful red color with some lightening on the rim, but not "bricking". Fragrant nose of leather, tar, flowers and meat. Shows a lot of freshness and lift. Very drinkable now, but this might actually improve as it gets more secondary notes with age. Impressive for its 22 years of age.

August 14, 2018 - Very young and bright- principally supported by what appeared to be a strong acidic backbone. Red fruit, floral notes. More elegant than plush. Seems to have a long life ahead, so no rush to open but it is great now.
