March 13, 2016 - Yellow/white exotic and stone fruits, some flint, sweet petrol, some fizz. Well balanced. Really liked this. Still quite youthful. Under screw cap.

July 13, 2013 - Sunset Corners Riesling Tasting (Miami, FL): Fairly deep flavors of citrus, spice apple, minerals. The only wine of the day that really stood out. Not sure about QPR though, at $50

October 20, 2012 - Light, pale yellow in the glass, the nose on this begins a bit rubbery, but quickly also reveals green apple, tart crab apple, and a little bit of citrus. On the palate, this is mostly about the acidity, which is quite sharp and not completely balanced. There is plenty of minerality, but surprisingly little fruit. The finish is medium in length. This is solid at the moment, but I get the impression that this is mostly too young and needs quite a bit more time to reach its prime. I'd like to try this again in five to ten years. Note that the score is based on how it drinks right now. I'd say there is potential here for a much higher score (92-93) in time.

June 25, 2012 - 2010 FX Pichler fest (Sun Wah BBQ, Chicago IL): nose: the most mineral driven riesling of the bunch. Very good with balanced tones of crushed rocks, minerals, white fruits, pears, and peaches as well. Very good depth and this was rather tight at first, but did unwind with some air.

taste: extremely good medium/full body with very noticeable medium+ acidity. While the acidity isn't as crushing as some of the other wines, it is very noticeable along with fresh tones of crushed rocks, white fruits, florals and some white peaches.

overall: like the other 2010s, this is a young FX pichler. I like the minerality on this and it makes it pretty distinctive against the other rieslings in the line up.

June 25, 2012 - 2010 Pichler Fest (Sun Wah BBQ - Chicago, IL): Pop and pour. This seemed to be a real winner in the first flight. While still displaying great energy and tautness to the palate it was a bit more lush than the first two. The flavors were a touch more relaxed and accessible - with peach, pear, lemon, hay and wet stone. One of the better vintages of the Oberhauser I've had.
