June 6, 2021 - Deep straw in color. Nose of golden apples, ripe peaches, tangerines, and a hint of mint reality. Taste of nectarines, peaches, apple cider, and lime stone. Had a synthetic cork but still Seems to have aged nicely. Lovely mouth feel and a nice richness. Great acidity and lovely balance of fruit and acids. Drink over the next 5 to 7 years.

August 15, 2014 - Only a kabinett, but I am getting plenty of botrytis, waxy lemon, toned-down lime, texture, and depth in this mature riesling. Not a baby anymore to be sure, yet still has plenty of smack and zip to hold it all together. A great foil to lamb vindaloo, channa masala, & chicken madras.

September 20, 2013 - 10 weeks ago I said 'no hurry to crack these' but I couldn't resist. Delicious.

July 4, 2013 - PnP, then nursed over several hours. Drinking very well, though the balance continues to be skewed towards sweetness and just doesn't have the acid needed to be a truly remarkable wine. Still, a great bottle of 9yr old Kabinett.

We put the bottle in the fridge with a cork in it overnight and it was still tasty at lunch the next day. No hurry to crack these.

March 18, 2011 - Pleasant fragrance with notes of peach, pineapple rind and white flowers. Flavor is a bit on the sweet side for a Kabinett, but this is nicely offset on the back end with a great tang. Long finish. Not a wine for great introspection, but super accompaniment to light Spring & Summer fare. Terrific QPR too at under $16.

September 13, 2010 - Fantastic qpr and food wine. Match this with Asian spicy food and see how well they go. This wine also has a lot of legs left. The 2nd day was much better than first. Tropical notes, but a blood orange tartness on the end brings it all together. It is sweet, yes, but so well made.

August 28, 2010 - good wine, slightly over-sweet, but excellent with food. No petrol, but a slight spritz.

May 25, 2010 - Consistent with previous notes. I did not recall that this had plastic corks. Not sure how long I will try to age these, given that.

August 4, 2009 - This wine is why I am so into German Riesling. It smells of honey and tropical fruits, with a creamy citrus on the palate, and a pronounced mineralty. The acidity is crisp and bright. This is another declassifed Spaet, but hey, for $17 it exudes class and precision. Sorry I have just the one. I served to 3 peeps that have not ever had a quality German Riesling and they nearly teared up. Greatness.

January 12, 2009 - Citrus and very, very, slight petrol on the nose. In the mouth, still spritzy and a little sweet for a Kabinett (without quite the acid to balance), but luscious and great with food and easy to drink now. Not great, but excellent for the price (<$20).
