Community Tasting Notes 4

June 6, 2019 - Bought for 11e from the local store of a French national supermarket chain: the only '09 among the rest of '11s. Decanted with very light sediment for its age. Purple; good blackcurrant nose, some oak; mature fruit, very good mouthfeel. Delicious and would buy again. My evaluation: I've stopped giving scores on a "100-point scale" as I've become less convinced that they can be meaningful to others. I use a 4-category scale (perhaps with +/-)--not including flawed--which runs outstanding/notable/drinkable/poor. I considered this notable+ when considering quality, age, and price.

June 24, 2017 - this wine is underrated!

A very exuberant bouquet, with lots of spices and minerals. The fruit (cassis) is on the background. Roasted aromas of coffee and tobacco will come on top.

On the palate, the wine is dominated by a gentle acidity, which is not perfectly balanced, but nevertheless excellently suited to the wine. Slightly gritty tannins with alcohol in the aftermath.

Very long finish and high persistence, which also takes the entire palate.

    Rating:

    Points: 91/100

    Conclusion:

Even if the wine has developed over several hours (to the positive), this wine deserves this rating.

At first it was a very fleshy Bordeaux, with roast aromas and juice. I liked that.

After several hours, it has developed a terroir wine, which has won a lot of finesse, in favor of the power and the succulence. And it hasn’t change my opinion about the wine.

To be honest, even if you call me crazy, this wine reminds me of a very robust wine form burgundy. Sure, it did not have the elegance, because the tannin had a clearly coarse structure. But this acidity and this outstanding finish were signals, that I have something very nice in my Glas.

A wine with different faces, which wants to be explored. Take a sip right after opening the bottle and make sure that there is still something left in the bottle after several hours.

If you can deal with volatile acidity, this is a very nice experience. The transformation is remarkable.

August 21, 2016 - Cool, blue fruit aroma, graphite. Leather, warm oak, wet clay and blue fruits carry over to the palate. Very smooth with a great acid balance makes this very drinkable. Maybe a little overpriced.

February 20, 2016 - Très beau Bordeaux sur le fruit. Il étonne un peu car je m'attendais à un caractère plus corsé et il s'apparente presque à un Pinot Noir. Néanmoins, il est excellent et méritera à vieillir encore quelque peu.
