September 23, 2019 - Tiny bubbles slowly formed a medium mousse, nose of brioche, minerals, allspice, and butterscotch, same on the palate, medium body, slightly tired, tasty, elegant, mouth filling fruit, lovely fruit, rich fruit, smooth like whipped cream, and a long, flavorful finish and aftertaste.

March 10, 2018 - What a treat, delicate tiny bubbles still very alive, brioche and acidity. Loved it

December 7, 2017 - Better than the last bottle opened earlier this year, but not exceptional. Color was a light golden hue and indicative of a white wine with age. This champagne is clearly old, but this bottle possessed just enough effervescence making it more enjoyable than the previous bottle. In both cases, the beads were small and fully integrated into the wine; however, this bottle unlike the previous one, had a number of bubble strands going up the flute of the glass. Nose was pretty good with toast and apple being the dominate elements. Flavors were dominated by apple butter along with some yeast, and just a touch of acidity at the end. I did not get a brandy nose, thought others thought it was present. Overall, I did enjoy this old bottle of bubbly for its soft and rich flavors, but if you want acidic liveliness and froth - you will need to go elsewhere. Overall, I think old champagnes - with their broad-toned flavors - should be served a bit colder than younger vintages. Drink up immediately.

(Served with chicken in mustard sauce, rice, and flash grilled padrone peppers.)

August 13, 2017 - Wine was flat - well, very nearly so. Tasted pretty good as a still wine. Expected more given the price point. Past it's prime or bad cork. Not rated.

August 12, 2017 - Served with steamed lobsters and corn on the cob for our 28th anniversary, this was a real treat. It's pretty much mature, as the toastiness takes center stage, but it's not into any oxidative zone quite yet. There is still a bit of apple/lemon freshness, though when hit with the lobster and lemon juice the wine focused on its toastiness, not its fruit. Maybe not the ideal wine for the food, but very enjoyable to drink, and a suitable celebration wine.

(Perrier-Jouët Champagne Cuvée Fleur de Champagne) Tight, earthy nose; austere, mineral palate; medium finish (the first 3 bottles opened all had TCA, and I'm not sure this one entirely missed the same fault)
