March 16, 2019 - This is a young 18 year old wine. Still has a lot of fruit. No significant brown on the edge. Full mouth feel. Soft tannins. Long finish. Grenache and Mouvedre seem to dominate the flavor profile. Great food wine. Slight stewed prune on the nose. We think this has at least another 2 to 3 years of prime drinking.

November 11, 2017 - Very much in the house-style, quite full and rich, but good freshness remains throughout, more so than in the Chaupin; fully mature, not going anywhere, drink up within a couple of years. #babylamb#DK-Eire

October 23, 2016 - 4th of 12. Spicy mushrooms, undergrowth and prune fruit. Somewhat vegetal on finish with pronounced tannin. Drunk with veal liver and onions, nothing special. 3+/5

December 22, 2013 - No chance to decant and initial impressions were rather flat and uninteresting. However, opened up over time and improved. Mature with spicy leathery prune fruit. Not overly powerful or complex but an improvement on last year. 3+/5 (86-89)

November 4, 2013 - It seems to me that this wine is in decline. I opened this bottle an hour ago. I did enjoy the previous two bottles, but now this one is a little disappointing. It has a garnet rim and pale red color indicating the maturity level. I did get some prune notes on the nose (someone else noted this as well), and garrigue. On the palate the fruit has faded and I get leather, prune, garrigue and rosemary. I poured half of the bottle into a half bottle for overnight storage in the cellar. And today it is a little better than last evening so I did increase the score slightly.

Rockss and Fruit

(Domaine de la Janasse Chateauneuf-du-Pape) Just soaring out of the glass .... wet earth, raspberries, blackberries, herbs de provence, wildflowers, minerals. Really floral. Gorgeous. Soft and lush in the mouth but as you are swishing you can tell there is alot of material there. Glyceril and fat yet so elegant as the flavors weave down to the back of your throat. Blueberries, soft red fruits. Soft, grainy microtannins make their presence known but in no way interfere with the other components. Nice sweet CDP fruit. So suave, silky and refined.
