July 7, 2018 - Earth and funk, needed a bit of air to open, then red-fruited and lovely

January 3, 2018 - this stuff is still killing it! a little sediment and bricking now. lush sweet fruit, cinnamon, fennel, evergreen, lavender, and lava rock on the nose. still energetic but acids toned down and integrated. sweet cherry, cranberry, fennel, and lava rock flavors. more balanced and softer after these years. thin tannic backbone, probably a couple years left before it burns out.

    December 6, 2016 - PopnPour, tasted over 2 hrs
-med brick red minimal clearing at edge
-some acetone elements and candied red fruit
-med acidity, med- weight, some red fruit remnants, med- tannins
-not as aromatic, complex or interesting as prior bottles, mildly VA-afflicted

July 31, 2016 - This was great, better the second night than the first, when it showed a slight edge. The succulent lush tart fruit of a good Burgundy, with the fine, sandy tannins of a good, aged Piedmont Nebbiolo wine. One to consider buying every year.

July 7, 2016 - I'm pretty sure I drank more of this wine than anyone else tonight. Shamefully I'll admit I passed on trying at least one other btl in favor of drinking more of this one :). This is likely in as good a spot as its going to be and hitting on all cylinders for my palate. Nice forest floor aromas with just a hint of dried flowers too. The palate has again forest floor notes, tart cherry, spice, herbs and what I can best describe as movement and reverb as it spreads across and last on your taste buds. I found this wine fascinating like I remember it from a few years back. Unfortunately, this producer can give you btls with VA and other issues as the winemaking is courageously hands off. That said, I'm on a mission to find some of these again and get them back in my rotation. Has that pretty, elegant , light on feet, airy freshness you can get from higher elevation mountain wines in Sicily. Translucent red with some ambering. Our top palate in our group thought it was losing some fruit and time to drink up. He may be right but I loved this wine tonight! Clear WOTN for me.
