April 18, 2014 - Nicely mature, Christmas spices, Perique blended pipe tobacco, really nicely balanced at this time, but still some lively tannin across the tongue. Liked this a lot 10 years ago, still doing really well. This was a surprise find in the cellar tonight, hope I find another bottle in the cellar!

July 19, 2013 - Fairly big, rich, chocolatey, coffee concentrate, somewhat over-extracted; Black cherry, black fruits, and a little eucalyptus on the palate. At the Eatery

April 7, 2013 - Very pleasant to drink, but tannins are nearly fully depleted. Lots of lush blackberry coming through and tasted better without food. Had difficulty standing up to the grilled strip steak because of its soft structure. Drink up.

May 12, 2012 - Our last bottle of 1999 S. Anderson cabernet. Still a good deal of blackberry, plum and cassis with tobacco and spice. A little bite of alcohol on the finish. Still in good condition and should be drinkable for a number of more years.

March 11, 2012 - Hints of leather and tobacco on the nose. Tannins have disappeared. Cassis and tobacco flavors with a medium finish. While still a delicious wine typical of the SLD, it is past its prime. Agree with others, likely 12+ months.

August 10, 2011 - Delicious, but I think it has moved past it's prime by maybe a year. Balanced dark red fruit and nice acidity.

August 4, 2010 - Post-Wedding Family Dinner: Two bottles. Popped and poured. Lovely nose featuring red fruit and dried herbs. Sweet and smooth in the mouth. Fully resolved tannin. Both these bottles were significantly better than any previous bottle I've had. In a great place right now, so no reason to hold these any longer.

June 21, 2010 - No notes taken. Every bottle of this has been very consistent -- good but not great. I'm going to drink through the last few of these over the next month or two.
