December 28, 2023 - prunes and raisins, loaded; tar and tannic finish, needs heavy tomato based sauce meats to enloy
May 11, 2023 - This would be a good wine to give someone a first taste of Amarone. It’s big, savory and pruny but in a milder form than some of the bigger, more famous versions. Nice accompaniment to a stew or hearty meal
April 3, 2022 - From a 375ml bottle. I previously had the 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2000 vintages of this wine. This 2008 was by far my least favorite. 80% Corvina Veronese, 15% Rondinella and 5% Oseleta. 15.5% alcohol. Not decanted and heavily sedimented. This was a port without the sweetness. Full bodied and loaded with prunes and raisins. Really a bruiser of a red wine. Too over the top for me. 85 points.
December 27, 2021 - Vin puissant avec des aromes de cerises confites. Peu d‘aromes tertiaires ( vin ferme) . Aurait du etre decante 1h.
November 21, 2020 - Big, powerfull, full bodied, quite closed at the moment.
September 29, 2019 - Obviously a powerful, plummy wine but it has a lovely freshness and is surprisingly light. Carries its 15.5% alcohol very well, and there is no sign of age. Plenty of life ahead.
September 2, 2019 - Losing its fruit, still complex and ejoyable
March 23, 2019 - Litt for varm
May 5, 2018 - Rather elegant for a Amarone, long and balanced, but also with ripe, sweet cherrie fruit. Went well with rich bbq, as the soicynes from the food matches the wine nicely.
August 21, 2016 - Coravin fun - Chardonnay and random reds (Day Street, Marrickville): From coravin. Ripe cherry and raisins, slightly menthol and vegetal notes lend a porty air. Creamy as well. Preposterously big in the mouth, chalky tannins but only medium plus intensity. Quite porty on the palate as well. Touches of ripe plums & chocolate as well. Fair amount of alcohol heft here as well. Travels long. I rather like this. In a good spot but really needs and exceptionally rich stew to make it shine.
