Community Tasting Notes 1

June 5, 2012 - Nice colour, deep red. On the nose:interesting herbasciousness mixed with tar, definitly smells like fresh tar, and a little cruciferous vegatable but with underlying fruit of dark cherry, raspberry, and a little old dried plum. Palate: medium to full bodied, nice acidity, a little dryness, again there is a nice herbacious componenet, a little woodiness, but the fruit does not come out as much as I would like, a little tart cherry rounded with a little dark fruit, but not very clear. Not a vivacous finish, but still enjoyed the wine, really helped me understand the tar smell. Had it with cheese and it went really well with a nice firm goat cheese (Drunken Goat) which mellowed out the alcohol and tar component of this wine.
