March 10, 2024 - Big wine and still tasting and looking fresh. Deep black and blue fruit flavors, earth and balsamic notes. My wife’s first comment on tasting was “well, that will wake you up.” I don’t think she meant it in a good way. I liked it fine but it became a bit one-dimensional as the evening progressed. And, it got slaughtered by the 2004 Mascarello Monprivato on the table which was compellingly elegant.

March 2, 2024 - both bottles oxidized and funky. Both get even worse with time.

February 8, 2024 - Previous times I have had this wine were among the best BDMs I have had. This bottle, my last, was toast. Undrinkable. A sad ending to an otherwise unprecedented run of amazing bottles. Presumably due to bottle/cork variation, but I might consider drinking on the sooner side, particularly based on how amazing previous experiences were.

January 11, 2024 - A little over 5 years since my last bottle. All bottles stored properly since release. I decanted this based on my prior review for about an hour. The color suggested a very aged wine and the taste confirmed this. A lot of raisin initially but as the night progressed, that raisin port like profile faded and very gentle red fruits emerged into a well balanced wine. It’s hard to believe that this wine reverse aged with additional time in the glass. I would recommend a 2 hour decant at this point for that raisin port profile to blow off. This is certainly in its prime and likely on the decline but still enjoyable with bolognese. A surprising amount of sediment that was filtered. Revisit 2025

December 31, 2023 - Excellent. Red cherry, cedar, leather, emerging maturity with forest floor. Enjoyed on jeroboam at New Year’s dinner with good friends.

November 3, 2023 - Gorgeous dark, brooding aromas of black cherry, leather and mushroom tones that lead to a ripe, blackberry and tobacco accentuated palate that finishes long and strong.

October 29, 2023 - Dark burgundy color, dark cherries, licorice, fig, leather, prune, and ever so slight raisin note. Long finish. I can see where others are saying it tastes like a dessert wine, as i think my bottle was headed in that direction if not consumed in next year or so. Nevertheless, the typical Brunello notes are still at the forefront, a well structured wine that’s at peak. Only negative was the vast amount of sediment, even for a wine of this age.

September 2, 2023 - So weird/ disappointing. 2 bottles, both pristine, great corks. One tasted like great brunello (though with a touch of raisin I probably wouldn’t otherwise note/comment on) the other tasted like raisiny desert wine. Wish i could say the latter had gone bad-but it didn’t seem like a corked bottle. Just bad wine. Take the notes of bottle variation from others here very seriously.

Ive been laying a lot of CdN TN down and this makes me very nervous… hopefully just confined to 07.

    One was a 93, one a 70
