May 13, 2019 - This really needs 4 hours in the decanter.
At that point it was showing well but reslly needs a few years in the cellar.
May 11, 2019 - 1 hour decant. Fine sediment, tannins still grippy. Hold for a few more years. So good, will get even better.
January 23, 2019 - Powerful, intense, truffles and chocolate. Spicy and peppery. Quite good, but wouldn't pay silly money for this. I just don't get it. It's evidently serious and ambitious - but boring.
December 25, 2018 - Christmas lunch and Bonaroti in Vienna Virginia. This is our 'go to' Italian and have never had a bad meal yet. Today it was Veal Chop. The Fontadi was far and away one of the best Tuscan wines I have ever had. It was not over the top California style like some Super Tuscans. Balanced, complex, integrated tannins. Incredible and will seek out more. Sorry not more notes but fantastic wine. Silky smooth palette and much more. Oldworldwines note describes it best but so many others make equally salient points.
June 19, 2018 - A bit too strong and heavy for me. The quality is good but alcohol level too high and it feels a bit overly extracted and a bit 'burnt'...
June 16, 2018 - Best to let this sleep a few more years. Showed promise when I popped the cork, but quickly closed afterwards and stayed that way the rest of the night
May 13, 2018 - What a beautiful wine. Drank this on a golf trip where we tend to glug wine, but this one lasted for two hours as we sat and savoured every mouthful. Of course, we drank it too early - it could do with another 5 years to let the tannins smooth out. Beautiful fruit and spice flavours which just keep changing, and go on forever.
December 2, 2017 - Balanced and drinking very well now, however it has a long life ahead of it with more savoury complexity and interest starting to develop.
November 24, 2017 - Bright fruit acid balanced tannins lovely fruit forward bouquet
October 20, 2017 - 2017 New York Wine Experience Trip; 10/16/2017-10/25/2017 (New York City, NY): This deep ruby, masculine Sangiovese delivers a package of black cherries, currants, pickling spice, loamy earth and black pepper. Full-bodied, freshly acidic and without any heat from its 14.5% alcohol, it wraps its flavors with plentiful fine-grained tannins. The middle palate is solid and the finish is lengthy, albeit a bit astringent. Give this some cellar time. Drink 2020-2035.
