June 20, 2021 - Most immaculate cork on a 21 year old bottle I've pulled. Gorgeous wine. Peak maturity with savory backbone to red cherry fruits with plenty of life and acidic spine. Herbal elements and a little smokiness. Balanced and suave.

March 22, 2020 - Give it half an hour to open up and it sings. Goes from dark fruit to leather over 45+ seconds. There's some acid to keep it from ever being tedious.

February 22, 2018 - I purchased this on release from the winery, and held it in perfect storage since, but clearly it was too long in the tooth. Still fairly dense, it showed disjointed acidity, and a strange combination of tired, overly mature elements and overripe fruit, leading into a teeth rattling finish. The cork was absolutely perfect - no staining, solid, but the wine had gone in multiple directions at once, making for a not so pleasant overall experience.

July 4, 2015 - Very secondary nose with some Brett notes, saddle leather and earthy components, on the pallet more brambly fruit, BlackBerry, raspberry, it's a bit of a paradox in that it has acidic, red fruit mixed with slightly riper elements. Much better than the last bottle I would definitely give it some time to open up though couple hours. Minimum.

June 23, 2015 - Still incredibly primary with dark fruits and related notes. In about an hour or so, spread out with more meaty and herbal notes. Great depth.

March 3, 2013 - Black and dense in the glass. Tarry nose with some anise, and a faint eucalyptus note developes with time. Massively concentrated on the palate with black oil-cured olive and some herbs. Desperately needs more time. Too bad I only had one bottle!

January 4, 2013 - Popped and poured....soy sauce, black olive and herbal (eucalyptus) on the nose. Anise, dark cherry and blackberry, leather and bell pepper. Primarily secondary characteristics, drink up.

February 24, 2010 - Wine, skiing, and snowboarding; 2/20/2010-2/26/2010 (Telluride, CO): 14.8% ABV. Popped and poured. Right out of the gate this was showing a funky, bretty horse leather nose with a touch of mint/eucalyptus. Medium full bodied with dark high toned raspberry fruit. This could probably hold for another five years or so. Seemed younger than its vintage. I had trouble getting past the nose on this wine and found it fine, but disappointing, overall.
