Community Tasting Notes 7

January 24, 2017 - Has plenty of spice to the aroma along with earth, meats and red fruits. It is cool and rocky in the mouth with a strong minerally spine. There are crisp red and black fruits and it is fine and lacy with a strong, savoury finish. It should age beautifully and has excellent balance.

December 22, 2016 - Lovely juice but definitely on the lighter side - will it ever be really Grand Cru complex?

April 17, 2015 - I've been disappointed one too many times by the Burgundy GC QPR. I'm going to retire from this region for the time being. On the light side, candied cherry not much complexity or body.

November 28, 2013 - A serious nose of red currant, earth, spice and underbrush. Another classic Gevrey nose but on a bigger scale than the Bernstein Village tasted at the same tasting. And serious, Grand Cru concentration, fruit weight and richness on the palate, with a length and layers of flavour not present in the 1ers. On the day, more open textured and approachable than the Damoy Clos de Beze 2010. 93. Good QPR for this quality and again sold out at the tasting.

September 12, 2013 - Drouhin Laroze, M. Ilan, old Sauternes & Ports (JV's): Light ruby in color. The nose is nice and complex. Cherries, some dry earth. On the palate, this is layered tightly but evolves in the glass. Cherries and some funk. Someone said feminine, but it was to me, just not as exuberant. I think this is headed somewhere nice, but quite good today.
