September 4, 2020 - Four years on from my last look at this, its evolving nicely. The tight blackcurrant leaf 96 character is starting to give way to classic palmer richness, the two currently walking hand in hand happily. Very palmer on the nose with a cool richness on the palate. Good line and nicely dry on the finish. ****1/2

June 17, 2020 - Consistent with many notes. A fine, old school, version of Palmer. By some measures, an under-performer for the vintage, but with air it spoke nicely to me.

January 28, 2020 - Violet, blackcurrant, sweet herbs, pencil leads, very elegant. Similar on the palate, very elegant, seamless, with lovely grip but effortlessly, unforceful. Very Long with silky fine tannin and nice acidity, Long, lingering. Calon might be deeper, structured and longer live, but I like this one more.

December 13, 2019 - Consistent to my note a few years back. Expressive and complex nose of blue fruit with pine, forest floor and cassis. Really clean and nice. God tannic core as typical for the vintage, long, cool finish, very Medoc, not your plush Merlot Palmer but what a treat for a lover of classical Bordeaux.

(Chateau Palmer Margaux) The assemblage is Cabernet Sauvignon 55%, Merlot 40%, Cabernet Franc 4%, Petit Verdot 1%. Beautiful nose. The typical Margaux perfume is detectable here, with mineral-meaty notes alongside. Style evident again, but also full, with a firm tannic backbone. This is developing well but really needs at least another 4-5 years before broaching for pleasure.

(Château Palmer) Herbaceous nose; tasty, herbaceous, chewy, tannic palate, with coffee toward medium finish
