Community Tasting Notes 6

August 28, 2017 - An elegant nose of ripe cherry and old wood leads way towards a sweet red fruited and earthy palate that is quite pleasant at present. Inching upwards slowly but surely.

January 19, 2017 - Slight brick red at edges with a deep ruby hue, unfined? Nose full of savoury spice, black cherry with a touch of funk and raspberry. On the palate, again rich savoury spice mixed in with some bramble, blueberry, raspberry and strawberry acidity. Subtle oak use gave a rounded vanilla and cedar but very well integrated. Classic example of good vintage Gros Frere. Great value wine, time to buy some more

November 20, 2014 - ruby/brick. nose shows red cherry, floral, earth and a little browning. quite dry palate, ripe red fruits, dry herbals, mushroom savoury, a little salty. medium finish. a fully mature Pinot Noir, easy drinking, a little complex and a little browning.

    Ap: 4/5; Ar: 12/15; Palate: 15/20; overall: 3+3/10
    TOTAL: 87/100

November 9, 2014 - a little suspicious mark of leakage, cork broken when open. at the midway between ruby and brick, even but not very clear. nose shows some red/dark cherry and dark berries, a little floral, more secondary game and mushroom savoury. smells like well developed. still fruit-dominating in mouth, ripe cherry and blackberry, some alcohol exposed and warm when it goes through throat, calmed down after half hour (breath in bottle). intense game and mushroom flavours, salty savoury, medium bodied, moderate acidity, smooth and light-weight tannins, all components are well mellowed together. medium finish with oak spice and a little dry herbal hints. it's in maturity status, but still a quality Bourgogne with good QPR.

October 26, 2014 - A delicate nose of ripe red fruit and a little oak which leads way to a poised, elegant and easy drinking Bourgogne. Drinking much better now than a bottle opened late last year.
