June 2, 2023 - Crisp and bright. I’m surprisingly pleased by this late stage Mercurey
April 7, 2022 - Light and delicate, balanced and put together. Long finish with heavier fruit. Destroyed the OR pinots of the last two nights.
November 8, 2021 - Nose offered taut cherry, a hint of spice. Classic Burgundy red fruit, forest nuances, and cherry pit again. An easy drinking bottle with supple mouthfeel and moderate weight, this was fully mature and no expected development. A picture of modesty.
November 1, 2021 - A bit tight on opening, decanted one hour. Marked improvement with air, tart cherry, black cherry, hints of plum, earth underneath. Tartness resolves to a balanced acid spine to go with the fruit. Mineral/earth notes show a bit more over hour or two with and after dinner as wine gained depth and length on palate. Enjoyable.
June 3, 2021 - Double decanted, last glass on day two was the best. Picks up more weight with air. Has plenty of life ahead.
May 21, 2021 - Agree with Bacchus on a lot of the flavors...a bit quiet upon opening...then after 30 mins shows life but is nothing special. after 2 hours starts to get more tart and simultaneously deeper cherry core....so out of balance but more range. I think this sucker needs to sit for 10 more years....most burg is better with age :)
April 18, 2021 - Pale ruby, fresh nose of red cherry, cherry cola, spearmint. The palate delivers persistent red cherry flavours plus spicy notes. Pleasant but lacks a bit of bit of complexity.
June 17, 2020 - Day 96. Ripe cherry secondary salty sea aromas. Red cherry, earthy underneath, nice acidity, minimal tannin
May 24, 2020 - Light, bright almost translucent in the glass. Red fruits, strawberry, ripe cherry coming through. Fresh, few tannins, fine balance and long finish.
March 6, 2020 - Needs air (or time). Last night I opened the bottle and had a glass. It was good but it had a lot of “rough” edges; nose was overly earthy and spicy, palate was a bit thin and very acidic. Now, after keeping the bottle in the fridge overnight, things are much better. The earth and baking spices are still present in the nose, but not overpowering. There is a hint of red fruit as well, almost like a subtle potpourri. It was complex when I opened it but now it is much less muddled. Same with the palate; now there are clear notes of ripe—almost dried—red cherries, green strawberry, acidity is definitely present but balanced with the (still considerable) tannins and the body—not big by any means—is slightly fuller and rounder and more attractive. I would wait awhile on my next bottle if I had one ; )
