February 13, 2020 - Lovely bottle with faded dark fruits and notes of smoky dark chocolate and minerals. Seamless and fine with balance and good precision of flavors. Not as expansive as the top Pomerols but it's balanced and silky with hints of tobacco and leathers on the long finish. Delicious and ready.

    January 25, 2020 - nose - cocoa, fig
mouth - super elegant, sexy aged red wine, velvety lush and complex, which is in essence saying a lot without saying anything very specific. of note it showed much more fruity than the 90 ducru which was had immediately after

December 31, 2019 - Last tasted 14 months ago, this has now shrugged off its tannic edges, and is fully mature displaying secondary and tertiary notes. It possesses a typically Pomerol opulence, and the nose is rich with cherry and black and red berry fruits with a background of old leather. The nose lingers for 30+ seconds, bit its real pedigree shows on the palate. It shows a perfect balance between fruit and tannin, and has a multi level complexity. I wanted to give a perfect score, but the finish, while perfectly balanced, shortens after 30 seconds. An hour in an open decanter is sufficient. My best wine this year. A post script, once drinking use a stopper on the decanter as the fruit will fade otherwise. 99+.

October 19, 2019 - Again this is very excellent; lots of ripe plum, lavender, petrichor, mineral, and leather. So suave and plush with a wonderful rich palate presence. Should last ages, though it's great now.

October 1, 2019 - What a wine the 1990 Clinet is. Huge, voluminous nose, full of luscious blueberry, plum, mineral, leather, clay, and lavender. Round, rich, and charming. What a wonderful presence this has on the palate and it finishes so very well. Fantastic Pomerol.

(Chateau Clinet (Pomerol)) Considering its age - twenty years so far - this has a remarkably youthful hue, comparable to some other wines ten years younger. There is some lovely evolution being expressed on the nose here, notes of rolled tobacco leaf, and remarkably showing an obvious seam of mint and perhaps even a touch of green peppercorn, all very suggestive of Cabernet Franc (although the variety only accounts for 5% of the vineyard), along with a little savoury, meaty stock, and later a touch of toffee. A good polished weight of fruit though. A very well composed wine, plenty of flesh and substance despite the wine's twenty years, slowly relaxing into the midpalate showing good structure, ripe and approachable tannins and appropriately balanced acidity which will carry this forward for years yet.
