Community Tasting Notes 1

January 28, 2012 - Being new to Vien de Nus, I'm trying to figure out what this reminds me of. The nose is like Mourvedre made in a Piedmont style. It is meaty and feral while also having very pretty, dried flowers and licorice notes. The palate, however, is sweetly fruited with black cherry, blackberry and licorice that linger at mid while the finish is more savory, woody and earthen (and has a raspberry quality that builds). Texturally, this wine reminds me of a cru Beaujolais. Lovely fruit and moderate tannins. Nicely balanced acidity. This is very well made wine.
