September 21, 2017 - Tasting with neighbors - showed very well against 2010 Meerlust Rubicon and a 2000 Saint Emilion Bordeaux. Soft ripe blackcurrenr, balanced French oak helped carry the structure through to a medium finish. The Rubicon stood up to the hangar steak and Greek salad better than the Baron, but on its own, the Baron was the wine of the night.

January 8, 2016 - Two bottles - the first was verging on jammy sweet fruit, the second was better balanced with fresh acidity and some semblance of a tannic structure. Not typically Western Cape perhaps, but still very enjoyable. Should continue to drink well for a few years
