June 11, 2018 - First of a case of six. Despite its age of nine years, this is still very primary and shows blue fruits, dusty minerals and violet florals. Supple, well structured and balanced and with considerable depth, I am curious how this will develop and taste in five years.
March 3, 2018 - Really intense purple black colour, holding colour to the rim.
Nose is very tight, black fruit and spice, perhaps a touch of liquorice.
That tight knot of black fruit and spice is maintained on the palate. There's good acidity and plenty of tannin there as well. I had this wine open for three days but it still hadn't yielded much, so I feel it probably needs a few more years to come around. There's certainly plenty of potential.
Apparently Poeira is Portuguese for dust.
October 1, 2017 - Deep purple and red fruit, dry finish, full bodied, at its apogee. Drinking great now.
October 1, 2017 - Deep purple and red fruit, dry finish, full bodied, at its apogee.
April 30, 2017 - Very big red and black fruit, dry finish. Moderate length. This seems young, but after being open two days started to taste the beginnings of oxidation. Not sure this will last more than the next few years.....
November 1, 2015 - This was spectacular. Very, VERY tight at first, after two hours in decanter it started to show beautifully deep red and purple fruits, with awesome structure easily capable of twenty years. Really. Graphite, glycerine, smoke, superb detail, and more than adequate length complete this package. A lithe, chiseled, very young beauty. Wow. 93+pts pure quality, with a couple points upside possible (but not anytime soon), 96pts personal preference.
September 26, 2015 - Good stuff. About 30 minutes of air gives up succulent fruits and a solid spine. Not subtle, but has a grace. Fruits get darker with time. Quite enjoyable.
February 19, 2015 - - Violet color.
July 21, 2014 - I love this wine. Lush, but not too syrupy...deep purple. Great with cheese. No one will call it elegant, but super easy to drink without food. What a bargain from Portugal.
October 5, 2013 - Kein heißblütiger Portugiese. Elegant, mineralisch, kühle Aromen, dennoch vollmundig, etwas unrund.
