February 5, 2021 - medium to full bodied still. Only a trace of the cherry fruit and pepper it had previously. Clearly on the downside of the curve but still pleasurable. My last bottle of this wine.
January 18, 2021 - Still absolutely stunning. Old-school Chateauneuf-du-Pape, light and vertical. Funky, notes of farm and leather, cool fruited, herbs, earthy. Great deal of complexity but still so easy and enjoyable to drink. In the sweet spot right now.
November 8, 2020 - Light browny brick, very mature farmyard on the nose, sweet earthy farmyard palate, light to medium weight, delicious. Drink now; The wine has nowhere else to go.
October 24, 2018 - No longer drinkable.
February 25, 2018 - Corked.
January 18, 2018 - The best of the trio of 2000 Châteauneufs. Funky nose, animal notes. Super cool fruit, stony minerality, same mold as the 1994 Beaucastel from the other evening. Elegant, delicious wine. This was the only bottle of the 3 that was emptied on the night.
January 18, 2018 - What a treat: Tasted vis-avis the 2000 Marcoux and Les Cailloux, this comes out the wine with a cool minerality, vertical style, garrigue, Southern barnyard, sweet Grenache, complete neuf. #PB
March 21, 2017 - This is fully mature, and drinking very well, as it has developed a complex perfume of old leather, earth, dry herbs, spice and red fruit that is carried on a light to medium bodied frame with just sufficient structure to hold it together. It seems unlikely that there is further upside potential, but I see no reason to think it will decline any time soon.
December 1, 2016 - Corked
September 7, 2015 - a bit weak but well balanced and a light structure
