December 15, 2018 - A great wine, but really big. We did a PnP bit it could have benefited from a three hour decant. It totally changed over the two hours we enjoyed it.
May 12, 2018 - Absolutely wonderful! The bouquet persisted to the end of the last glass. Smooth as velvet and great fruit...fully integrated tannins and flavors.
May 4, 2018 - Hommage a DryCab - Washington Wines release; 5/3/2018-5/5/2018 (Various spots in Walla Walla): Part of a Creative Impulse vertical. Lots of pepper and more of a stewed fruit character. Drank next to the 2008 which was just awesome so this got overshadowed a bit.
January 6, 2018 - Decanted and paired with steak and maple spiced carrots at Ox in Portland. Slightly tight on opening, it blossomed into something amazing within about 30 min in the decanter. Notes of cassis, black cherry and flowers. Tannins, acidity and body were all aligned. Just a delicious wine that's drinking very well right now. Drink now - 2029.
December 3, 2017 - This is simply fabulous. Great depth of fruit with near perfect balance with the tannins. The finish is medium length.
October 19, 2017 - Wow this is intense. I think sometimes I forgot how more over the top the washington cabs can be. Lots of luscious fruit. Mostly fruit dominated. Very ripe. Something that fits with the 'purple drinking cretin' style. It's fun though and well done in that space and I enjoyed it even if it took a moment to adjust.
September 16, 2017 - Firing on all cylinders, does WA wine get better than this!
May 29, 2017 - Decanted for 1 hour, served with perfect medium rare New York strips coated with truffle zest, along with grilled balsamic portobello mushrooms and assorted roasted veggies. Killer pairing. This wine is showing beautifully now, but will easily last another decade.
May 21, 2017 - Wine definitely needs decanting time of a couple of hrs. Started opening up nice integration with dark fruit presence.
December 25, 2016 - Medium dark ruby with bramble nose. On opening, getting light acid, medium fruit and body with some lightly chewy tannins. In the decanter for a couple hours. Balsam forest notes with a bit of earth, good balance with a lot of complexity which will need a little more open time to develop. Never got a chance to revisit to see what developed over the evening so it must have been good.
