December 3, 2012 - Decanted and tasted over several hours. Musty nose on initial opening transformed after an hour or so in the decanter: barnyard funk, game, leather, smoke, and eventually some dark cherry notes. Mouth-watering acidity mellowed over the course of the evening, giving way to darker fruit with hints of tart cherry. Overall, an interesting and reasonably tasty bottle that really is more of an intellectual curiosity than a sensory delight.

October 14, 2012 - This bottle was in incredible condition with rather new looking labels and definitely new capsule (which was plastic). The cork did not look 45 years old (more like 20?). The fill level was into the neck and the color was darker than what I would have expected from old Nebbiolo. This seemed to have been a reconditioned and topped-off library release from the winery? This did not seem to be all Nebbiolo, perhaps some Barbera was included in the mix? Decanted off the moderate chunky sediment. Nice flavors of dried flowers, leather, and dried fruit, but this seemed to lack zip and cut. Lacking in energy and kind of fell flat on the palate. Overall, a blocky, monolithic wine that never really blossomed into anything interesting. A disappointment.

October 8, 2012 - Tasted alongside several bottles of mid-range Barolo and this certainly held its own, though very few primary notes left; predominantly old leather, worcestershire, soy, plum, dried cranberries, tart cherry. Medium acidity, just a hint of tannin. Medium tart finish. Interesting. On the down slope, so drink.

September 21, 2012 - Burnished brown and ruby red. Musty nose at first, but blew off in the first 1/2 hour in the decanter. Surprisingly good fruit on the palate, dried red cherry and raspberry. Very acidic initially, but melded soon after opening. A pleasant surprise, drink over the first hour or so after opening.
