May 23, 2023 - Opened straight out of the cellar. A medium+ purplish ruby, the open nose beckons with dark cherry and black licorice. On the palate, dark cherry, black plum, blackberry, licorice, and a touch of garrigue. Very open straight away, and also was quite good at or near cellar temperature. Many wines are shut down at cellar temps, but not this one. Our final bottle and the best one yet.

January 8, 2021 - Theusualsuspect summed this wine up nicely. Even a couple of years later, my notes match their's pretty closely. It's a nice drink (best after open for a couple of hours). Everyone notes the fruit forward nature of it (which is true), there is nice tannic and acid structure underneath. It's not flabby by any means.

There's a lot of complexity in this wine, and it could get a little better for some palates, but I wouldn't wait longer to enjoy this.

September 1, 2018 - Fully displays the love it or hate it modern style on steroids lush style of the 2009's. Blueberry red fruity. But perhaps a bit lacking in balance. Eye opening lush polished fruit on entry but with a finish that fades quickly. That said, goes down quite easily. Given the price, certainly not a disappointment. After three hours fleshed out a bit further along the palate, but still ended short. I wouldn't rule out the future resolving this.

May 8, 2018 - At $19, this remains terrific value. Relative to my prior tastings in 2015-2016, this has improved but is not yet past its peak. It has an effective and fun combination of minerality streak, tobacco and cigar notes, and some deep fruit. The heat is a tad too high, but without being overwhelming.

February 16, 2016 - Relative to prior bottles, this tasted too ripe and unbalanced. Same notes of cigar and leather on the palate though. Remains a good value for the money.
