March 24, 2024 - Night 1. Pop n pour into a burgundy bowl shaped glass. Took about 15 min to open up. Cherry nibs, chocolate, some other less ripe dark berries and truffle. Definitely drink this from a burgundy glass because I also tried some of this from a small Grassl universal shaped glass and it smelled like a musty floor with steamy fruit. The Grassl also makes the wine hit the palate in an unpleasant way where as the burgundy glass allows the aromas of cherry and truffle to continue on the palate. Finish is medium length. I’ll check in with this wine tomorrow or the day after and post an update if anything changes.

July 16, 2022 - Decant for sediment -- not necessary for aeration. This bottle seemed quite a bit more advanced than the last we had, 18 months ago, though the acidity emerged as the wine was open, so it seemed more youthful at the end of the evening than it had when we opened the bottle. Marked aroma and flavor of cherry brandy, with a strong (not unpleasant) aftertaste of tar. (If anyone wonders what people mean when they describe old Nebbiolo as tasting of tar and violets, they should try this wine.) Heady and complex and fully ready to drink -- I would advise sooner rather than later.

June 3, 2022 - Delicious! Medium color intensity. Ruby, with the beginning of some fading/browning around the edges. Black fruit, licorice, maybe some tar on the nose. Black fruit, mineral, licorice upon tasting. Still strong tannins and acid on the finish. Could have cellared it another 5-10 years probably.

May 13, 2021 - I am new to Barolo but not to cellaring. No decant. Still looking young in the glass, a slight clearness on meniscus, on day two a slight amber on the rim. From swirl to first taste-bright forward cherries, medium body, nice acidity and balance, the middle shows darker fruits and a touch of game, followed by some dusty, dry but mild tannins. Delicous. A clear evolution from the first bottle several years ago that was closed, tight, without evident fruit and more tannin. It has a long way to go but really good now. 94 Wish I had a few more in the cellar. Much more integrated on day two, forward fruit has lessened but still good.
