June 11, 2012 - Too dry finish - big earthy taste

May 4, 2012 - Decanted briefly then had with artichoke and sun-dried tomato frittata and spinach. From the cork, I surmise that this is (or resembles) Abbott's Cumulo Nimbus (http://www.cellartracker.com/wine.asp?iWine=1146905). Deep purple color, tempting spicy nose, but the fruit is muted, middle is soft and tail end a bit metallic. Molli detected a funky heat on the finish. At first I thought it was pretty bland stuff, but after a couple hours it opened up into a warm and velvety Aussie-style syrah with a pleasingly herbal twist at the end. An food-friendly daily drinker that's a good deal at $13.
