March 16, 2020 - Prominent floral nose, medium weight, slightly orange at the rim. Cherry, crushed strawberries, black raspberry, licorice. Velvety, coats the tongue and roof of the mouth gently, then hits the back of the throat and lingers. Rare bottling of old-school Barbera from a revered winemaker. Winnowed elegance, singularly northern Italian flavors.

March 4, 2019 - Pop and pour for lunch with Bolognese alla Bufalo. Still quite young. Needed a few hours to really open up. Tasty dark red fruits with hints of chocolate and cocoa. I will wait 5 years to open another.

November 23, 2017 - Textbook Barbera. Medium red. Light/medium body. Fruit present but not overwhelming. Notable for its bracing acidity. Be sure to have something to nibble on with this one. Day two update: this bottle has transformed itself to something else--velvety texture, tamed acidity, gobs of fruit. Couldn't believe it came from the same bottle.
