July 14, 2022 - In a wonderful place right now. Has a little toast and white mushroom development. It is loaded with citrus fruits and has just the right amount of struck match reduction. There's good fruit intensity and mineral precision. It has a suggestion of apricot and it finishes with saline mineral tang.
March 26, 2021 - Carillon is carillon, and Jacques is carrying the torch proudly (and very well). His first vintage - there seems to be a seamless transition between his father and him. Very good wine (I had to check that I didn't open one the 1ers by mistake)!
February 12, 2020 - Bottles drunk with lunch or dinner while in Burgundy; 2/10/2020-2/14/2020 (Burgundy): Happy to encounter a well-aged and ready wine on a wine list in Beaune. This punches nicely above its weight class with good concentration and depth of flavor. Classically Puligny with floral and mineral laced orchard fruit. No rush to drink. 90-91
February 12, 2020 - Burgundy, Day 2 (Beaune, France): At La Lune. Perfectly aged. No signs of premox, but this is definitely showing a little bit of age as it should. The nose is fresh and clear, with outstanding concentration for the level. Served blind, it's possible I would have confused this with a 1er cru. There's certainly a lovely amount of precision here, and while there's a sappiness that draws away from the minerality, this still has plenty of tension and vivacity to it.
January 8, 2020 - This was oh so lovely and has so much potential...
December 31, 2019 - A lovely wine with our NY meal at Hunan pairing incredibly well with the spicy dishes. The wine itself would have on its own be a bit too clumsy/overripe and oaky for me and missing the elegance I would ask for in a great white Burgundy. However in combination with the food a pure delight. 88-89 on its own, 91-92 with the food.
October 17, 2019 - Entering its peak drinking window. Excellent minerality and cut, as would be expected.
August 19, 2019 - first bottle out of 3 that wasn't corked.
August 14, 2019 - Lovely pure crisp and fresh. A joy to drink now.
