February 10, 2017 - My last bottle was over two years ago (November 2014) and the wine has evolved considerably in that time. Blackberry and black raspberry on the nose. Close to full bodied (14.5% ABV) and opened two hours ahead of time, drank over an additional three and got better and better the longer it was open. Blackberry upfront which retains some brightness, adding in nice background depth with black raspberry and black cherry. Well balanced acidity on the back and the finish provides both structure and tart contrast. Tannins are almost imperceptible; they are that well integrated, adding structure and a pleasant creaminess in the background.

When first opened, I was a little concerned as it seemed a bit candied, with a lot of spicy and stemmy notes. All of that blew off before I had my first glass and where the wine ended up at the 5 hour mark was quite special. It's a California style pinot, but with a depth and elegance that most can't come close to pulling off. As I had hoped, the wine has integrated incredibly well which allows the mid-body to be much more expressive and the balance is just stellar. Each glass was better than the one before and the last three were approaching sublime. High points were the overall flavor complexity, the silky elegance and the overall balance. As far as structure and integration go, this wine is at peak (as long as you open it a few hours ahead). It should easily last for many more years, so no rush. Hopefully, I can find some more!

January 30, 2017 - These Lato wines rank right up there in my book. A full bodied Pinot that leaned toward the dark cherry realm. With more time and air complexity may have improved, but this was so tasty I didn't wait to find out.

November 12, 2016 - Forgot to create the note right away and although a nice wine this one was not as memorable as some of the other Lato's I've had. Drank quickly and wife really liked. Might have had just a slight touch of heat.

November 7, 2015 - Nice dark red fruit. Medium to heavy body. Pepper and spice. Good acid backbone.

November 15, 2014 - Blackfruit and floral notes on the nose. Excellently structured pinot with incredible body and showcasing black cherry and black raspberry with wonderful depth and complexity. Just the barest hint of red fruit peeking out in the background at this stage. Cream and spice notes on the lengthy finish. This is a really big and full bodied pinot while remaining nuanced and with wonderful complexity of fruit. This pinot is only beginning to show it layers and depth. Well worth holding and trying again in a year or so. Really impressed with the richness and complexity of this wine and will look for more.
