March 28, 2015 - Since I just took delivery of a bunch of 2012 La Cigalettes, I figured this was a good time to drink my last 2011. Actually, it would have benefited from another year or two in the bottle. Nice grenache nose. Tart cherries on the palate. Very nice finish. Better with food than by itself. Still a great value.
February 12, 2015 - Drank February 2015
Dark but still transluscent, red, some purple, overall a dark burgundy color with a small bit of orangish brown towards the edge that surely will increase with age.
one the nose there was an abundance of red and black fruits, notably cherry, even bordering on jam at times, there's a strong earthiness to it that was reminiscent of leather. In the begining there was a bit of alcohol smell it it but as the wine was open over a couple hours the fruit and leather came out more, additionally there were small hints of orange peel.
medium/full bodied. fruity and pleasantly tart on the palate without being overpoweringly acidic. A good amount of the fruit comes through definitely confirming the jam aspect of the fruit but with a pleasant complexity. The alcohol, at 14.5% is defintiely there but in balance with a medium amount of tannins that are closer to smooth than chalky.
January 12, 2015 - Keeps on keepin' on. Still delicious, still a great value, and still holding up well.
January 6, 2015 - Good. Dark fruits, herbs, eucalyptus.
August 7, 2014 - Second bottle of the evening. Great QPR. A very enjoyable Rhone blend.
August 1, 2014 - Good. Subtle, typical CdR characteristics of red fruits, herbs and earth. Tasty.
