July 23, 2012 - Now THIS is a surprise. The wine in question is the Baboso Negro of Bodegas Frontos. We get a really pleasant, ripe blackberry and blueberry fruit with LOTS of volcanic minerals. The body is explosive, with good fruit concentration and high acidity. The wine is young and off balance, with the alcohol up in the skies (bottle says 14%, I'd guess 15-16% blind) and the acidity too high. Needs time to blossom fully but a very impressive effort.
