June 10, 2023 - Double decanted prior to leaving for dinner. Silky and perfumed. The oak is still an element leading into the herbal, floral cherry Franc fruits. A bit of dusty tannin on the finish and just a hint of earthy mineral. It's really the suave texture of Rougeard that stands out here. In a lovely spot.

March 14, 2023 - Wine Workshop: Focus on Clos Rougeard (Cafe Evergreen): Great acid which provides a lot of lift for the wine. Dark and slightly brooding and again the herbal. Drinks nicely. This is almost a 20 year old wine and still firmly in the camp of being a baby.

June 19, 2021 - Absolutely gorgeous. Green pepper, tobacco, spices. Paired with a 95 day dry aged porterhouse, which worked beautifully.

May 31, 2021 - Amazing nose tomato leaf, green pepper, dark fruit, tobacco, spices - wonderful complexity and depth. On the palate really well balanced - fresh and vibrant, nice tannic grip, spicy with wonderful fruit. Very intense finish with great persistence. Superb. Drinking well, but no rush at all. 94-96

February 22, 2021 - Clos Rougeard, an absolute favorite Domaine and by far the best expression of Cab Franc to me. This was starting slow, most probably due to the vintage. Nice nose but rather one dimensional on the palate next to the Lafite, albeit the signature profile of this estate: purity and elegance is showing right from the start. Took about 1.5hours for the full bloom. Much deeper and complex, with lovely fruits intensity and minerality intermixed with just a touch of the pepper notes that added more complexity. I would say both wines are aiming for the same goal: finesse. This will go the distance.
