August 19, 2017 - What many don't know is that the material used to make this comes from either the same, or almost the same vineyard stock as the flagship HSS Select. Most of the grapes in the One Point Five come from either declassified grapes or from the younger parcels in the Estate Vineyards. Although I purchase the HSS annually, this is a much better buy at $90 per bottle versus the $285 for the HSS.
This was decanted for well over an hour before enjoying with a perfectly grilled, medium rare, ribeye steak. Very bold and aromatic on the initial entry with big dark cassis and ripe blackberry fruit aromas and flavors. At about the two hour point, secondary and tertiary notes of cedar mulch, celery, bell pepper, sweet tobacco, dark chocolate, and black coffee emerge. Tannins are grainy, but integrated with acidity tying all the elements together harmoniously. Even at almost eight years this is still big, dark, and very bold. Finishes oh so long! Easily has another 7-10 years of great drinking life.
July 6, 2017 - Dark, dark ripe cassis fruit and pleasant fresh green pepper. Touch of graphite. Floral accent. Plush mouth feel. HRH likes this stuff.

May 29, 2017 - Don brought a bottle over for Memorial Day - no detailed notes but lush and very smooth - black fruit and tobacco is what I recall.
April 26, 2017 - Really deep purple color. This bottle never really seemed to open up for me - remained a bit acidic over the course of a couple of days, fruit never really made its way forward. Will wait on next bottle for a few years.
December 25, 2016 - Very good, but needs at least 5 more years in the cellar. Lots of great primary fruit and spices.
December 7, 2016 - 2009 (Mostly) Napa & St. Julien Vintage Tasting (Lincoln Square Steaks, NYC): I always love the "One Point Five" but I'm "only" giving it 91 points this time. It seemed a touch less impressive than 4 other 2009s my group had alongside it. I'm sure if it was the only wine of the night, I would have scored it higher.
November 24, 2016 - Arrrggghhh!!! Completely inappropriate for Thanksgiving! What a waste. Two more left...
September 18, 2016 - - Garnet color. It's balanced with a full body. Bright texture with a long finish - Wow... rich in flavors, smooth fruit/ berries with a hint of vanilla. Long finish.
