October 12, 2014 - Pretty amazing bottle - 11 years out from the vintage, seven years from my purchase. Slumbering away, forgotten in the cellar. Dark red color, floral and slightly cherry licorice nose. Smooth palate with some sour cherry, acidity that is in bounds and finish that goes down easy. No sign of aging beyond the svelte palate. All good and enjoyable.
February 11, 2011 - Cherry and crushed cherry stone, acid and fresh fruit, milf tannins.
June 5, 2010 - no lasting impression
June 2, 2009 - Pretty much the same review as I gave in 5/2007. How could 2 years make such a little difference. Decidedly better on Day 2. I think I have one more, and it's going away for a while.
By the way, decent bottle. A nice Italian palate of flavors.
May 17, 2009 - Really fantastic wine at the price; complex, lots of herbal and other notes, great depth and persistence on the palate.
March 29, 2009 - Our experience is just as dougsmith describes below. Superb color and clarity, with pronounced initial dusty tannins. After one hour of air, becoming more integrated, and over the next four hours the fruit progressively came forward, amidst tar and leather, and the tannins became very nicely integrated. Was really singing at the 5-hour mark, a testament to the ageability of this wine.
March 8, 2009 - Solid and still good QPR
February 11, 2009 - Fruity with some coffee and smokiness. I didn't enjoy this second bottle as much as the first, the tannins were a bit too tight and overpowering. It would probably be better with food or maybe decanted.
September 9, 2008 - Deep ruby color. Complex nose of gasoline, pine needles, roast red peppers, dusty cocoa and spice. On the palate there was also a touch of black cherry and plum. Earthy and rich with good acidity; a touch unfocused but otherwise very nice.
June 28, 2008 - Spice, coffee, tannic but not overpowering. Held up nice the day after too.
