  August 26, 2023 - This past weekend, I found myself in the mood for a good Volnay. Looking to have a lighter, mature wine on a sunny evening, I was excited to find Domaine Marquis d'Angerville’s 2000 vintage from Champans on the wine list. My first foray into Domaine Marquis d'Angerville after months of wanting to try a bottle from the producer, I was thoroughly excited. Evolving tremendously over two and a half hours, the nose was atypical to many of the mature Volnay wines I’ve had as smoke, tobacco and jam were prominent, accompanied by hints of blackcurrant, oak and spices. The palette opened up to be much more youthful than I was expecting with redcurrant and raspberries dominating the upfront before the mid-palette brought in jam and leather. An elegantly long finish saw cacao and leather come into the mix for what proved to be an extremely complex wine.

  December 2, 2017 - Dekantert 1 t. Flott pinot essens med litt krydret tone, plukket opp kanel etterhvert. Feminin og moden pinot på høyden. Mye skogbunn og ikke mye frukt, avlsepne tanniner. Bedre nese enn munn. En emosjonell flaske, siste av en 6-pack. Åpnet mine øyne for rød Burgund. Delt med Eirik S. Kanon til økokylling med morkelsaus.

  Took a few hours to come around. But it's so balanced and savory. And there's primary fruit, too. Drink now - 5 years.

  February 22, 2015 - Pure, clean and a delight to drink, this wine feels like it's just beginning to enter it's prime, notes of primary red summer fruit are still there, but with subtle interesting mushroom, earthy undertones makes this really hard to leave the glass down
