September 26, 2020 - Last bottle unfortunately. Consistent with previous notes. Really good and still plenty of life left in this wine.

July 23, 2020 - Perfectly matured CS, confirming once again the good quality of 2001. Charming, well structured, elegantly combining tobacco, plum, toffee, roast aromas and a nice, phenolic finish.

  • Badfish Likes this wine:

May 18, 2020 - Decanted and consumed over two hours. Dark garnet red core with slight bricking at the rim. The nose is gorgeously aromatic with pencil shavings, licorice, camphor, black currants, wild berries, and campfire. The palate is similarly stunning with ripe earthy purple fruit, crisp acidity, and smooth sweet tannins. This wine is punching above its weight for sure with complex rich aromatics and flavors throughout. Such a surprising wine, this was an $18 purchase 15 years ago, a staggering value.

April 29, 2020 - Drunk over two nights. No decant and - just an hour of air in the bottle. Almost a little acidic initially but softened in the glass. Smoky and earthy flavour. Day two revealed another level of depth and was night I would choose to drink the wine. Felt richer and smoother. I don't feel the wine would improve too much with age but it's not heading downhill either.

November 24, 2019 - 3/12, vg cork, decanted then served.
Lovely cool dark-fruited nose, with a nice gravelly undertow. Medium bodied, dark gravelly fruit, spice, touch of liquorice, fine but firm tannins, decent depth, vibrant acidity, attractive savoury edge, some red-toned fruit showing on the good length finish. Nice claret.
