February 8, 2023 - Blind (without answer). Easily the oldest Vosne-smelling wine with charming sweetness but evidently shorter finish than the rest. Very good condition of this wine, especially given the DRC performances in this vintage, and probably at the top of older DRC Eche candidates. 93-94

September 7, 2022 - Good looking bottle, nice fill. The bottle had been stood up, cork duly fell in. Ripped the foil off and got stuck into it and it did not disappoint. There was some smoked meats, Hoisin and moss to begin with. With air wild strawberry fruit appeared and there was black earth, rose petals and freshly grated ginger. Structural elements are completely resolved and the fruits have a lightly honeyed quality. It is silky and full and quite beautiful, with a persistent finish that fans out.

August 31, 2022 - Lucky to have this again after 4.5 years and this bottle was as good as the last one. Explosive, seductive nose of smoky red and black cherry laced with Vosne spice. The palate has GC concentration with a velvety, non-stop mouthfeel. Long, enticing finish.

November 6, 2021 - We are now officially in the big leagues , with DRC in the house- Slight browning at the glass rim, and a nose of Italian spices and Darjeeling tea. Dried cherries and calabrese leather on the palate with a smoky finish. The opening act for the big show……

March 11, 2020 - Advanced with metallic notes on the palate. I've had better bottles but this has generally disappointed by a wide margin vs the GE in this vintage.

January 22, 2020 - Echezeaux Extravaganza: Henri Jayer and DRC 1976-2007 (La Grenouille, New York): Lovely young and fruity wine at age 25. Elegant and floral. Not quite as complex as some of the top vintages but drinking magnificently today.

August 17, 2018 - [Magnum] On the nose this is initially over the hill with heavy teas and dark spice. Fruit is badly browning. Think old Barolo. The nose isn’t that bad, some roses, tar, and pine. Improving considerably wth air. Still no classically bombastic DRC black cherry and stems remaining. Palate is also Italian with high acid and dry leathery fruit. Have had some ‘69s recently that were far fresher and stronger than this. Damp cigar ash in a less pleasant way. Best off a short, fresh pour. From a very bad looking bottle, lower fill and some serious corrosion, although the colour is great. Still drinkable, but a disappointment, especially in the Magnum.
