December 22, 2018 - Well, this was not my day for wine. I brought this wine because I thought it would pair with the grilled salmon, shrimp and lobster quesadillas (all of which it did) -- and because we had another August West Chardonnay the night before, which was spectacular.

But it turns out neither the Hostess nor most of the party attendees liked chardonnay, and this one was too aged for folks' taste (at best). I got some apple, pear, pineapple -- and perhaps a touch oxidized as well. It was a touch on the old side for a party. I now see it spent 13 months in neutral French oak, with full malolactic fermentation, so perhaps not as age-worthy as some bottles.

Probably better a couple of years ago -- or maybe an off bottle? I got it from WineBid and I don't know the provenance. Good bottles of this wine are terrific.

    Drink now.
